Council Minutes – September 19, 2011

September 19, 2011

The regular meeting of the Belle Plaine City Council met on September 19, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the city council chambers with Mayor Jim Daily presiding.  Present: Craig Van Scoyoc, Marv DeRycke, Harold Ealy, Garrison Reekers, James Kurovski.  Also present:  City Attorney Jennifer Zahradnik and City Administrator Bill Daily.

Motion by Ealy to approve the consent agenda consisting of September 6th council minutes, bills @ $69,326.31 & the receiving/filing of the September 14th Park Board minutes, second by Kurovski. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Kurovski to approve Resolution #11-9-5 of Necessity for unpaid city bills, second by Reekers. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Van Scoyoc to accept Josh Karsten’s resignation effective October 5th, 2011, second by DeRycke. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.   Mayor Daily thanked Karsten for his faithful service to Belle Plaine.

Motion by Ealy to approve (per the Design Committee’s Recommendation) a Commercial Interior Grant for Anders Norgaard, 801 12th Street not to exceed $3,836.58, second by Van Scoyoc. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

The next Committee of the Whole meeting will be held on October 17th at 5:00 p.m.

BPCDC Report:  No one present.

Police Chief Kris Hudson gave the monthly police department report.

Residents Comments:  None

City Administrator’s Reports:

  • ·         The Downtown Revitalization Project is moving along on schedule.   The streetscape portion of the project  is scheduled to be completed around October 15-20th. The Façade Project will be ongoing. Some of the street lights could be installed this week. The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Streetscape part of the project is undecided.
  • ·         The airport snow removal equipment building project started today.
  • ·         Bill stated he will be attending the Iowa League of Cities Conference September 21-23 in Des Moines.

Motion by Kurovski to adjourn the meeting, second by Ealy. On roll call all voted aye. Meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
