Council Minutes – February 4, 2013

February 4, 2013

The regular meeting of the Belle Plaine City Council met on February 4, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the city council chambers with Mayor Dave Fish presiding.  Present:  Mary Pech, Garrison Reekers, April McIntire, James Kurovski.  Also present:  Assistant City Attorney Jim Ries and City Administrator Bill Daily. Absent:  Marv DeRycke.

The Pledge of Alliance was recited.

Motion by Kurovski to approve the January 21th council minutes, bills @ $12,147.37, and the receiving/filing of minutes from: Park Board – January 16th; Planning & Zoning Board – January 14th, December 10th & November 12th and Community Center Board- January 9th, second Reekers. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Residents Comments: None

Motion by Kurovski to approve the renewal of Class C Liquor & Sunday Sales permits for the Jennings Bradshaw Post #39, second by Pech. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by McIntire to approve the renewal of Class C Liquor, Outdoor Service & Sunday Sales permits for the Belle Plaine Country Club, second by Kurovski. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Pech to accept the proposal from the Winkel, Parker & Foster, CPA. firm  for a 3 year contract @$6,880 first year, $7,020 second year & $7,160 third year, second by Reekers. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by McIntire to approve a cigarette permit for Dollar General, second by Pech. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Kurovski to reschedule the February 18th council meeting to February 19th because of the President’s Day holiday, second by Reekers. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Pech to set March 4th at 6:00 p.m. as the date and time for the 2013-2014 city budget Public Hearing, second by McIntire. On roll call all voted aye. Motion carried.

City Administrator Reports:

  1. Bill wanted to thank the street crew for prompt attention at the time of the ice/snow storm on January 30th & January 31th. The crew came out early and did a fine job.
  2. A 2013-2014 budget work session will be held on Wednesday. February 6th  at 5:00 p.m. in city hall.
  3. The Main Street Historic District National Register Nomination Review meeting will be held Friday, February 8th at 1:15 p.m. at the Historical Building in Des Moines.

Motion by Kurovski to adjourn the meeting, second by McIntire. On roll call all voted aye. Meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
